Ghost vs Buffer
Buffer is a scheduler for many social networks with an AI Assistant in its composer. Ghost is a LinkedIn writing agent that drafts campaigns from your own material. Here is how they differ, with sources.
What Buffer is
Buffer is a social media scheduler. One queue and calendar publish to LinkedIn profiles and pages, Facebook, Instagram, X, Threads, Bluesky, Mastodon, TikTok, YouTube Shorts, Pinterest, Google Business Profile and Substack Notes.
Its AI Assistant sits in the composer. From a short prompt it drafts a post, rewrites or shortens one, changes the tone and reworks a post for each network. Ideas are kept in a shared space, and tags group posts into campaigns you can filter in its analytics.
There is a free plan for up to 3 channels, and paid plans are priced per channel. The Team plan adds approval steps and permissions for teammates. It also has a shared inbox for replying to comments, a link-in-bio page, mobile apps, a public API and an MCP server.
Where Buffer is ahead
- It publishes to many more networks, from Instagram and TikTok to Pinterest and Google Business Profile.
- It has a free plan for up to 3 channels, and the AI Assistant is on every plan.
- It has a Community inbox for replying to comments, and Buffer’s pricing page lists AI replies.
- It shows analytics across your channels.
What Ghost is
Ghost is FeedSquad’s LinkedIn writing agent. It turns your expertise into LinkedIn posts you can edit and approve, and it works as part of a small team of agents.
Starts from your material
Ghost drafts from what you give it: pasted text, a link, a document or a GitHub repository, along with your business context. Specific material gives you something concrete to check in each draft.
Keeps your voice
Your voice settings guide every draft, and writing samples can give Ghost a learned voice profile. Checks look for phrases lifted from your samples and for posts that open the same way.
Connected campaigns
Ghost plans a sequence of LinkedIn posts. Each one has its own role in the sequence, its own angle and a proposed date.
Approval first
Every post stays a draft until you approve it. A proposed date on its own never publishes anything.
Part of a team
Handler publishes your approved posts to LinkedIn, and template Pixel makes post visuals. Both come with Ghost. The FeedSquad Bundle adds Pulse for X, Stitch for Threads and Stash, the shared memory every agent reads.
